This week, the long-awaited coffee company opened for business. They served coffee, tea, and cappuccino to caffeine-deprived faculty and staff anxious to try the coffee and support the on campus business.
In an email to the staff, IDS teacher Tim Smith, who oversees the business, said, "A great big thank you to everyone for all your support of our Grand Opening. Our first day was a smashing success! The students thoroughly enjoyed serving each of you."
The Imago Dei School's Transitions students and high school students have been screen printing T-Shirts since the summer, but the coffee has been on hold waiting for a cappuccino machine that was back-ordered.
Running these two businesses is an opportunity for students to develop job skills such as customer service and money handling, which will help them gain employment. The hope is that these businesses will become profitable and be an employment option for students who complete Imago Dei's 18-22 year old post high school Transitions program.
Regular business hours will be every Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:15.
