Imago Dei students took a trip to First Presbyterian Church in Newhall, which houses a very large and lovely pipe organ. Students learned how the pipes are activated, how the “shutters” open and close in order to make the sound softer and louder and how the “stops” control the different sounds.
The played both “manuals” (keyboards) and were able to play the pedal notes with their feet. It was exciting to see the wonder that they displayed in seeing something so large and mechanical make such beautiful music.
Mrs. Howell (Principal of Special Education) said, "My favorite thing to witness was the students’ excitement to have the opportunity to play the pipe organ alongside Mr Brown."
Since a picture is worth 1000 words, enjoy the beautiful photos (courtesy of Madeleine DeWier, Trinity mom).
