Academic Screening and Student/Essay Visit

All incoming students will be given an academic screening in order to help us understand their current skill level. After submitting a request for a screening, the Trinity Admissions Office will need to confirm your appointment.

Transitional Kindergarten: The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program at Trinity is a wonderful opportunity for children who need another year to develop physically, socially or academically prior to entering Kindergarten. To enter TK your child should be on track to enter Trinity’s Kindergarten program in the Fall of 2016, and must be at least 4 years, 9 months old when they enter TK. Your child’s screening must be conducted after they turn four years old.

Kindergarten Admissions: To enter kindergarten, children must be five years of age on or before September 1st to be eligible for admittance in August of that year. All students entering kindergarten will be screened by a Trinity faculty member to ascertain their readiness for the kindergarten program. Your child’s screening must be conducted after they turn four and a half years old.

First through Twelfth Grade Admissions: All students entering the first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1st or have successfully completed a year of kindergarten. Students entering succeeding grades must have completed the preceding grades. Students applying to first through twelfth grade must complete an academic screening administered by a Trinity faculty member. First through twelfth grades will be administered the Woodcock-Johnson III Assessment, and eighth through twelfth graders will also complete an essay test.

Student Visit: Students applying for 7th through 12th grade will spend the day with us during the school year. This will enable them to make friends and to see what a typical day with us looks like. Please bring a snack, lunch, a water bottle and a notebook. Cell phones must be turned off during the visit. Please adhere to the following dress code: Gentleman – pants or shorts (no jeans), collared shirt (tucked in), nice athletic or dress shoes. No hats.
